Backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is organised, wonderful chaos, with a huge beauty team working to transform models into angels. Last night saw the return of the baby pink satin robes, curling tongs and glowing skin as the models hit the runway for the globally-renowned 2014 fashion show. Make-up artist Dick Page told WWD the show was all about channeling each model’s natural look, describing the 47 stunners as “a genetically gifted group of children”.
Face
The beauty routine began with moisturiser, followed by the application of red pigment by German brand Kryolan on the models’ cheeks. Foundation was worked in, only if needed. A natural lip was complemented by a glowing tan.
Eyes
Shiseido shimmering eye creams were used to defined the eyes, along with a little eyeliner and lashings of mascara. There were no false lashes this year, according to Page. "I’m sure there are going to be some girls who sneak off and do things, but I can’t catch everyone,” he added.
Hair
Hair extensions were applied liberally to each model. Lead hair stylist Aki said they delivered “body and sexiness” to the look. Victoria’s Secret Mega-Lift Mousse was used on the hair before drying and curling with ghd tools. Curls were pinned up, and allowed to set before being loosened with fingers. As a finishing touch, serum was applied at the ends to add shine.
