Kate Moss talks beauty lessons

Kate Moss’ nonchalant approach to style continues to be one of the most sought after around the globe. Now, the British model renowned for her privacy has spilled on her beauty secrets to media at a press event for make-up giant Rimmel, of which she is the long-time face.

Alongside her essentials – “a make-up bag and moisturiser” – Moss spoke about the lessons she’s learned throughout her career:

Low maintenance is best
“I use more make-up now than I did before. I didn’t use to wear really that much and I didn’t know how to do make-up, but now I know how to do it a bit more. I can do eyes and make-up in general more. I do like my own lipstick as well.”

The same applies to hair
When asked how she chooses to style her hair, she explains: “rough dried upside down.”

Think practically - particularly when it comes to red lipstick
“I’m clumsy, I’d have red lipstick all over my face during the day if I wore it. [A gig] is not a red lip event. You’re kissing too many people – you know ‘Oh darling how are you, mwah!’ – you don’t want to leave stains on everyone.”

Contour is not for day-to-day
“I don’t think anyone can do it like [MUA Kevyn Aucoin]... Still no one does it like him, even though it’s come back. He would change my whole face, I wouldn’t recognise myself in the mirror. I did work with someone the other day who did a lot of contouring and I thought ‘Oh my God, I have so much make-up on.’ It looks good in pictures. In real life, you look a bit weird.”
