L’Oréal Style & Colour Trophy celebrates the best of New Zealand’s professional hairdressing talent and showcases hair as an essential element of fashion and style.
Now celebrating its 21st anniversary, it is returning with a new format, making it even easier to enter, with all judging based on photographic entries rather than live recreation.
Finalists are selected and then brought together in Auckland where the judges announce the winner in each category during an exclusive, celebratory evening.The judges score entrants on creative, fashion-forward hair colour, an innovative and striking cut, inspired hair styling and finish with an overall look of fashion and make-up.
The judges for this year’s Awards are New Zealand renowned hairstylist and entrepreneur Stephen Marr and iconic hairdressing advisor and media personality Tracey Hughes from Australia.
For the first time the New Zealand winner has the opportunity to showcase his or her talent to the world at the Global Finals in Lisbon, Portugal.
L’Oréal Professional Products Division General Manager Gary Marshall says it’s a great opportunity for stylists to demonstrate their creative hairdressing skills to a panel of industry leaders.

The awards evening is an extravaganza of fashion, creativity, colour and style as New Zealand’s top hair stylists compete for the most coveted awards.
Entries are now open, with the competition culminating in a glamorous, invitation-only awards night on July 30, 2016. To enter, stylists submit a photographic entry in an award category. Entries are then sent to a panel of top international industry professionals for judging.
