A new report has revealed that Instagram is the fastest-growing platform for magazines and newspapers.
Data collected by social monitoring platform, CrowdTangle, presented in an MPA-The Association of Magazine Media report, has shown that follower growth on the social channel has risen by 6.3 per cent so far this year for major news, lifestyle and fashion magazines.
Some notable numbers include a 7 per cent follower growth for Vogue, 5 per cent for Vanity Fair and 16 per cent for O, The Oprah Magazine.
News mags also saw significant growth in their follower numbers, according to the report. New York Magazine increased followers by 6 per cent to 1.5 million followers; The Atlantic increased by 23 percent and The New Yorker climbed by 6 percent to 3.4 million followers. It was noted, however, that Twitter and Facebook still hold the majority of these publications' social audiences.
While Facebook continues to boast a larger number of users than Instagram (2.4 billion vs. the latter's 1 billion), likes and follows on that platform in 2019 has only grown by 1 per cent overall.
