In this day and age, Facebook is embedded in our lives to the point where for most users, checking the website is a daily (if not hourly!) addiction. The social media platform is a powerful communication tool that will shortly also prove to be useful for business owners, thanks to the launch of Facebook Work.
In aiming to boost connectivity in the workplace, the app will assist companies to set up internal micro-networks, which will be accessible only by current employees.
The app is an entirely separate entity to the original website. Users will need to set up a work profile that is different from their personal profile. All information shared is only visible to others using the same corporate email within which a Facebook representative confirms is to be kept “safe, secure, confidential and completely separate from their personal Facebook profile.”
Facebook Work will be free to access and utilise, and it intends to remain free of advertising.
The app’s intention is to assist in helping teams communicate and collaborate more easily within the workplace. Its benefits include the ability to chat among colleagues internally, make important announcements, and keep different areas of each company afloat on achievements.
Facebook has chosen to launch via only a limited number of companies, but will most likely release the app to the rest of the world shortly.
