Make-up artist Rachael Brook is one of the vlogging world’s rising stars. The content creator recently revamped her website, showcasing a user-friendly, image-heavy space that explores Brook’s passion for beauty and fashion alike. BD recently spoke to the vlogger about the changes users can expect:
What inspired the redesign?
There were a few glitches that were reoccurring with my old site and it just looked dated. I needed something fresh to get my creativity flowing again, and it totally worked!
What are the major differences readers will notice?
Everything is completely different. The home page features my latest YouTube video for easy viewing, along with my recent blog posts. Readers can easily view my hair and make-up portfolio and navigate to my social channels too. Most importantly, the content I’m producing is what I’m truly passionate about. I love sharing techniques I’ve learned and talking about them in the same way that I would teach a make-up class. I’ll be sharing my best tips and tricks from all angles of beauty.
Has your focus changed?
It hasn’t really changed, it’s just expanded. I started blogging around six years ago and I’ve always enjoyed it, but my vision has evolved over the years. I want my readers to understand beauty the way a professional does. I want them to feel confident about the products and techniques they’re using. I want RachaelBrook.com to be a place they can come to learn and be inspired to achieve all of their beauty goals.
You've now integrated e-commerce – how important was this for you?
I’ve always wanted my readers to be able to find the products that I’m raving about easily, without having to search too hard. I’m also often asked what my most used products are and the ‘Shop’ really is filled with beauty products that I can’t live without. I’ve also added a touch of fashion in there so my readers can see the pieces I’m loving and wearing myself.
Do you plan to continue creating content for your various social media channels?
Absolutely! I feel like I’ve really found what I love to do now that I have an audience to connect with. Being a make-up artist is so much more enjoyable when I get to share my love of beauty with my readers. They completely inspire me! I’m across most social platforms – I’ve even started using Twitter and love doing Facebook Live videos on my page!
