This October will see NET-A-PORTER's sister discount site The Outnet launching into beauty, with the addition of 18 luxe beauty brands to its line-up.
The beauty brands set to be sold on the site will include Lipstick Queen, Natura Bisse, By Terry, 111 Skin and Ren.
“The challenge is that we’re an off-price retailer — and we didn’t want to offer off-price beauty,” The Outnet director of global sales and marketing Andres Sosa told WWD.
“We wanted to see how can we be true to the DNA of everything we do and try and find something exclusive to us that no one else had.”
To offer something different, Sosa and his team have put together beauty kits containing several full-size, current season products that complement each other. None of the products will be sold separately, but the kits will retail for 20 - 30 per cent less than if a consumer bought the products separately.
The site made the decision to branch out into beauty as a result of research with The Outnet Insiders, a group of 10,000 customers across the globe that serve as a panel for The Outnet.
“[Of those surveyed], 88 per cent say that they regularly purchase luxury beauty brands. It was a no-brainer,” says Sosa.
