To celebrate its 125th anniversary September issue, Vogue magazine and Google have banded together to create a new virtual reality video series.
The project – titled “Supermodel Closets” – takes video viewers inside the closets of famous models like Cindy Crawford and Kendall Jenner.
Each video runs along a similar vein to Vogue’s successful “73 Questions” series; however, as Supermodel Closet’s promises, the videos are solely of each model speaking alone in their closet, unprompted, while viewers can scroll 360 degrees around the room.
The series is also the first of its kind to use an advanced three-dimensional camera called a Yi-Halo: the latest 360 degree “jump” camera that can automatically stitch together videos.
30 Ninjas co-founder Julina Tatlock spoke about the workings of the series her company produced, saying: “There is an opportunity when you are making 360 and virtual reality to let the story shape itself a little more.
“The fact that Vogue allowed us to shoot the models for almost two hours, and then we cut it to four minutes, means that Kendall could completely relax.”
