Snapchat, the social media monolith who pioneered stories, is now attempting to take them back from Instagram and Facebook by rolling put a new feature.
Now, Snapchat is making it possible to share public Snapchat Stories beyond the app itself.
"Public stories" include those from Snapchat's verified users, like celebrities and sports teams; those featured in the curated Our Stories section, which shows a selection of Snaps from the community at large; and those discovered through search.
Now, users will be able to hold down the tile on these select stories and send it to someone in a text, through email, via social media, or view it online in a newly-developed desktop web viewer.
In a sea of social media platforms rolling out stories, it appears that Snapchat is attempting to take back control after losing some of its foothold to Instagram; and poor user growth has seen its value sharply decrease.
Australian Snapchat users are able to share stories now.
