With the New Year comes a new series here on BEAUTYDIRECTORY. Introducing the sustainability switch – a series that will highlight the positive changes beauty brands are making in order to become more environmentally friendly.
Kicking things off is Gold Coast brand, Alpha-H. The brand has started 2019 off on the right foot, implementing these sustainable changes across the board:
- Alpha-H is making the most of what Mother Nature has blessed them with on the sunny Gold Coast and have recently added 195 solar panels to the roof of its factory and head office at Helensvale. Measuring some 325m2, this will reduce CO2 emissions by almost 67,000kg per year.
- 10,000 bottles of Liquid Gold are produced using solar energy per day.
- Almost 40 per cent of its new tubes and bottles are made from recycled material.
- All of the new Alpha-H tubes or bottles are 100 per cent recyclable as well as the cardboard outer packaging.
- Its converting inorganic waste into high-grade composts, premium soils, soil conditioners and potting mixes. These are used for land rehabilitation projects as a growing medium or replacement for synthetic fertilisers. Also rejuvenating degraded land by improving ecological and biological integrity through improved soil fertility and micro-life.
- Company cars have been upgraded to Toyota Prius.
- Alpha-H is passionate about supporting local, and using local ingredients wherever possible. The brand currently sources both caffeine extract and aloe vera from local Queensland growers.
