Wella Professionals and OPI x Em on Holiday backstage report – Tuesday May 14, 2024
Sydney-based label, Emma Mulholland on Holiday debuted at Australian Fashion Week 2024 with its Resort 2025 show titled, Pure Shores.
The show was captivating with a fusion of love for underwater and mermaids.
"Splash is one of my all time favourite films. Madison’s (played by Daryl Hannah) relationship between bustling city life and the tranquility of the ocean inspired the overall themes of the collection," said designer, Emma Mulholland.
With a runway full of luxurious taffeta, organza, freshwater pearls, crab claws and cascading sequins it made sense for both hair and nails to compliment this style.
Wella Professionals editorial top stylist, Keiren Street and OPI nail artists further amplified the underwater theme.

"I took inspiration for EOH hair direction from the classic film SPLASH which was the EOH mood board for the collection," said Street.
"Just like Daryl Hannah’s character in the film, in and out of the water. I wanted to create a contrast of textures in the hair, think wet but dry at the same time."
"You get healthy, shiny hair thanks to the products that are contrasting with the dry texture and that salty lived in feel."
Get the look
Step 1. Prepare the hair with a mist of Wella Professionals Ultimate Repair Miracle Hair Rescue and a liberal amount of EIMI Perfect Me (4 pumps). Create a straight middle part, then mist roots with a little EIMI Perfect Setting and a dressing brush to smooth hair down.
Step 2. Section hair into 6-8 sections without disturbing the smoothed top of the head, mist each section with EIMI Ocean Spritz Salt Spray to add texture to the hair, then plait. Leave about 2 inches of the end of the plait loose. Continue this around the head.
Step 3. Secure the plaits with a hair net and use a diffuser to completely dry in place.
Step 4. Using a wide iron, clamp the plaited hair and repeat until all the moisture is removed. Remove the hair net and smooth the top of the head with your dressing brush then lightly unravel the plaited hair.
Step 5. Using a few pumps of the EIMI Perfect Setting, clap into the hair (try to not disturb the work you have done). We want the underneath section of the hair to have rope like feeling and the top to have a contrasting texture.
Step 6. Using EIMI Dry Me, lightly spray the top layer of hair avoiding the crown to create a loose and airy feel to the hair.
