This weekend will see some familiar faces on stage for the Home, Food & Design Weekend, with The Australian Women’s Weekly beauty and health director Sheree Mutton hosting a workshop on the Saturday (May 23), and beauty experts Elisabeth King and Michael Brown hosting a session at midday on the Sunday (May 24) for House & Garden magazine and Natio.
With interactive workshops and how-to demos on the agenda, visitors to the event will have the opportunity to pick up new skills, discover innovative products, and learn about the latest style trends.
To find out more about the weekend, BD chats to Mutton about what's on the agenda, what people can expect, and why magazines are getting involved.
What is the Home, Food & Design Weekend?
The Home, Food & Design Weekend 2015 is an exciting and event-packed weekend hosted by Australia's leading food, home and lifestyle magazines. Editors and industry experts will be leading interactive workshops in a marquee on the forecourt of St Mary's Cathedral on everything from interior styling, beauty trends to gourmet cooking.
How will you be involved?
I’ll be hosting the “Make-up Tips and Trends with The Australian Women’s Weekly & Natio” workshop at 12pm on Saturday, May 23.
What can people expect from your session?
It’s going to be a very interactive session that will include information about the latest in make-up trends and tips on how to create various beauty looks. We will also have a live makeover on stage with Natio make-up artist Erin Haggart, and guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and even have a makeover themselves.
Why is this event a good fit for The Australian Women's Weekly?
The Australian Women’s Weekly team loves to meet and interact with our readers in person, and events like the Home, Food & Design Weekend allows us to do that. Food, beauty and homes are a core part of the magazine and this event is the perfect opportunity for our readers to pick up new skills, discover trends and learn about innovative new products.
What are your top tips for mag editors when it comes to doing consumer-facing events?
It’s all about engaging the audience and your readers, so give them the opportunity to ask questions. It’s also important to find a balance between being entertaining and informative.
