Who: Christopher Esber
When: 8:00pm, May 16, Carriageworks

Hair: Paloma Rose Garcia for Redken
Hair look:
“The inspiration for the collection came from a very strong, powerful woman and we wanted that to come through in the hair. Essentially, we wanted the girls to look like they just got out of the shower, scraped their fingers through their hair, got dressed and ran out the door. We want it to look very powerful and very cool. The thing I love about this hair direction is that it’s very raw and there isn’t a lot of polish in it. When you see the collection and the space where the show is held it will all go beautifully together. The key product here is Redken Flex Mess Around as this is what we’ve used to slick all the hair back, plus it’s matte rather than shiny which works perfectly for this style.”

Makeup: Kate Squires for Napoleon Perdis
Makeup look:
“This season, Christopher’s collection has got a bit more of a feminine edge than it normally does, still quite architectural but there’s a nod to the 80s as well. We’ve taken the latter but given it more of an artistic textural painterly kind of look on the eyelid. We’ve played with the tones from the collection and used either a really stark white, a soft, greyish lilac or a soft lemony yellow. The effect on the eye is artistic because it looks as if we’ve dipped the brush in a pot of paint and swiped it across the eyes. We’ve played to each individual look, so with some of the girls we’ve gone a little bit more full on and intense. Skin is really healthy, fresh and raw; brows are brushed up and a little bit boyish, and then we’ve left the lashes quite clean and just applied a coat of clear mascara. Again with the lip, we’ve kept it looking really fresh and healthy.”

Skin: Jodi Ayre for Dermalogica
Skincare:
“We’ve been performing our Dermalogica 10 Minute Face Fit Service which is a rapid, super quick, supercharged treatment. Our focus was really on cleaning the models’ skin and creating the perfect canvas so they can then have their makeup applied. So it was all about incorporating our heros such as Dermalogica Pre Cleanse, our Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil, Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift and a few of the UltraCalming products because we know what stress the models skin is under during the week.”
