Who: KITX
When: 7:00pm, May 17, Carriageworks
Hair: Sophie Roberts for KMS
Hair look:
“The inspiration for the look is girl gang, it’s got spirit and is whimsical and unconventional, all the things that KITX celebrates in women. The hair feels a bit craft and DIY, we’ve used objects like buttons from KITX that we’ve sewn through the hair. There’s also a boyish, deep set part that goes through to the crown. The key products are the KMS Add Volume Styling Foam which is a great for using from the roots to the ends and gives an overall texture and grip to the hair. Then we’ve used the KMS Tame Frizz Smoothing Lotion which gives us shine and nice ripples in the hair. Then the hair is just tonged, knotted, twisted and sewn, rather than pinned in.”
Makeup: Nicole Thompson for M.A.C
Makeup look:
“I really wanted to do translucent matte skin which is probably the trickiest makeup to do. The reason we’ve gone for this is because Kit wants the girls to look super earthy - it’s not luxe, it’s just not that kind of show. On the skin, it’s all about creating natural skin with the least amount of products. We’ve massaged in M.A.C Mineralize Charged Water Skin Hydrating Mist and a little bit of oil to specific areas of the face that look quite dry, then we apply the M.A.C Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion. We’re trying to avoid foundation today but we’ve used the M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer that’s applied with a sponge and then we add the M.A.C Invisible Set Powder with a small brush - I really like how smoothing this product is. We’re not packing it on, rather spreading it out. In terms of the eye, we’ve used M.A.C Haute & Naughty Mascara in Brown which is nice and earthy and we’ve made it quite heavy against the clean skin. Then we’ve used the M.A.C Cream Color Base in Dusk which is a lovely rich colour, and on top of that we’ve used a creamy, nude lip stain which creates a glossy lid. Note - if you matte everything around a glossy moment, it makes the the gloss stand out without having to add more. Next we’ve applied M.A.C Yash Lipstick which counteracts the natural pink in the lips - this is dabbed on very lightly. For brows we’ve used a brow palette, we’ve wet the colours because we want strong but fluffy brows that evoke that tribal look. A dark charcoal colour is applied to create a bit of definition and body - this needs to be done fast so it doesn't look too polished.”
