Who: Yousef Akbar
When: 4:00pm, May 17, Carriageworks

Hair: Philip Barwick for Redken
Hair look:
“Our look today is once again an expression of individualism but not forgetting that the inspiration behind the collection is based around a ‘sweet delusion’. The girls are portraying characters that are heartbroken but pushing the limits of their own belief. We reflected that in the hair by making shapes that are beautifully soft like a deluded cloud and then we’ll also be bringing in strips of colour that are woven through. It’s a very poetic type of look. Because we’re using heated tools we’ve prepped the hair with Redken Pillow Proof Express Primer and we’ve backed that up with Redken Rootful 06 which makes backcombing really awesome. We’ve also used hair pads on this look to give that essence of theatre, but the looks are soft and achievable. Essentially we’ve used simple ponytails with are backcombed and tucked underneath.”

Makeup: Amy Sartorel
Makeup look:
“The look is all about glowing and glossy skin, bases are kept the same colour as the girls’ natural skin colour and we’ve spent a lot of time massaging the product into the face. We’ve got a really nice Marc Jacobs highlighter that we’re using on the top of the cheek bones and other high points on the face. Brows are brushed right up using an Inglot Brow Gel Liner. For the skin we’ve used M.A.C Face and Body Foundation as well as some of the face oils and the M.A.C Lightful Softening Lotion to make the skin really glowy. We’ve applied concealer on top of these using the M.A.C Studio Finish Concealer. The focus of the lips is gloss, which we’re going to apply when the girls are lined up backstage. This will be a combination of M.A.C Lipglass and a reflective pigment and that will be applied right at the end, over the top. The lip is a really dark berry, purple colour and most of the depth is in the centre of the lips and then it blends out. The lip colour is taken just over the lip line and then with a clean blending brush, it’s been softened and diffused. Yousef wanted the girls to look like they had a messy mouth and once the gloss goes on the smudging of the lips will become really apparent.”
