Next time you decide to throw your hair up into a messy bun as you’re walking out the front door, you may want to consider recent stats by . A study of 1000 Australians found 84 per cent of 18-44 year olds believe that how a person takes care of their hair is reflective of the way they take care of themselves.
The research released this week also found 91 per cent of Australians believe a person’s hair is a key element to their sex appeal. So, that explains all the hair tossing that goes on when you’re into a guy!
The study discovered 60 per cent of Aussie men would be put off pursuing the relationship if their date turned up with unclean, unhealthy or unkempt hair, while men with dirty hair (79 per cent) and dandruff (64 per cent) were seen to be the biggest hair turn-offs for women.
"When your hair is looking its shiny, glossy best, you have unbelievable confidence. And because confidence is attractive, you in turn feel - and are! - a lot sexier," says Pantene ambassador and beauty expert Zoë Foster.
The survey was conducted to mark the release of Pantene Pro-V’s six new Styling Treatments and also revealed that 90 per cent of women spend an average of 13 minutes a day taking care of their locks, while 53 per cent of men spend less than five minutes a day. That’s the equivalent to 4,745 minutes a year - frankly way too much time tackling hairdryers and straighteners.
A further 39 per cent of 18-44 year olds feel that the condition of a person’s hair reflects how successful they are in their career, and 41 per cent cited hair loss as a key concern for them and on par with getting wrinkles (42 per cent).
When it comes to my hair, I have no regular routine. On a good day (or bad day, whichever way you look at it), I will spend over an hour making sure I get it perfect (we’re talking shampoo, conditioner, treatment, blowdryer, round brush, straight brush, straightener, serum, braid and clip), and sometimes I just chuck it up in a bun, sans mirror. But it’s definitely true what Zoë says, nothing makes you feel better than having a good hair day.
