Allure’s founder returns to beauty journalism

Allure Magazine founder Linda Wells made headlines last year when she was booted out by the publication’s owner Condé Nast after 24 years in the position. Now she’s in the spotlight again, confirming her return to beauty journalism in her new role as beauty editor-at-large of The Cut - New York Magazine’s beauty and fashion site.

Wells will contribute on a weekly basis, with her experience welcomed by editorial director Stella Bugbee, who says: “We’ve long admired her wit, style and her ability to get at exactly what readers want to know about. I can’t wait for her to bring her sharp, funny takes on everything from eyeliner to outdated beauty standards and which runway trends matter.”

Wells’ return to the beauty sector was long rumoured, with her commenting at the time of her departure from Allure: “I’m eager for the adrenalin rush of writing and commenting quickly on beauty, fashion, fitness, diet, wellness and whatever else pops in my head.”
