Following Elaine Welteroth’s shock departure from Teen Vogue last week, rumours have been rife as to who her replacement might be.
Condé Nast announced Welteroth was stepping down in an internal memo to staff members last Thursday, coming just eight months after she was elevated to editor-in-chief and two months after the magazine decided to shutter its print edition.
Many believe that Phillip Picardi, Teen Vogue’s digital editorial director and founder of LGBTQ-focused publication Them, will take Welteroth’s place.
While neither Condé Nast and Picardi have commented on the promotion it is expected to be announced this week.
Speaking on her departure, Welteroth wrote on Instagram: “It wasn’t easy, and it won’t be easy going forward. But what I know for sure is that same spirit of reinvention (rebellion!) that transformed Teen Vogue will live on, and I could not have more confidence in the team presiding over the future of this special brand.”
