Sun protection is first and foremost when it comes to enjoying the Australian summer. It's a message that emerges every year from multiple beauty and skincare brands in an effort to educate the population about sun safety. This year however, one brand has branched out into the world of publishing with a new children's book that aims to educate little ones about staying safe in the sun.
Banana Boat's new book Colin Splodge and the Sizzledodge captures the imaginations of kids with humorous characters, fun rhymes and illustrations that magically appear when they're exposed to the sun. It also delivers the important educational message about sun safety.
By creating a tool that can be taken into homes, Banana Boat hopes that parents will be able to educate their children about automatically adopting sun smart practices like putting on sunscreen, wearing a hat and seeking out shade when they get too hot.
Edgewell Personal Care managing director Rachel Pullicino says: "… as a business, [we] are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to get the message across. We know there is still some lack of understanding among the Aussie public around how much sunscreen to apply and when to apply it, so while fun in its nature, the messages this book conveys are serious. We hope this book speaks to children’s imaginations, but also helps them and their families remember the fundamentals of sun protection.”
