Bobbi Brown’s Liz O’Malley talks 2016 trends

Working side-by-side with  founder Bobbi Brown, the brand’s international artist Liz O’Malley is unsurprisingly exceptionally clued up when it comes to beauty trends.

In Sydney recently with the Bobbi Brown team, BEAUTYDIRECTORY sat down with O’Malley to grill her on the five top make-up trends set to dominate 2016. Here’s what she had to say...

  1. Nude skin. Skin that looks like skin - nude make-up that is not boring. Bobbi always says “natural make-up doesn’t mean no make-up, but it does mean the right make-up” - that’s what nude make-up means for us.
  2. Glow. Strobing not contouring - highlighting your best features first before defining. In 2016, you’ll see fresher make-up overall - we’re moving out of heavy contouring definition and into an ethereal, beautiful lifted look for the face.
  3. Brows. Making brows look even more natural and defined. Bobbi Brown is bringing out a brow gel that will really enhance the look of a natural brow but give really good definition. The trend for 2015 was very harsh, hard, over-done brows - we are getting away from that as a trend.
  4. Lashes. For the last couple of years, lashes have really taken over when it comes to make-up. The lash look for 2016 is going to be really eye-opening as opposed to heavy - the bigger the better, however, they still need to be separated, curled and defined.
  5. Beachy skin. Bobbi Brown is using Malibu as a location for a lot of the photos for our collection - Malibu is that quintessential place where people are relaxed in their make-up. They love looking like they woke up that beautiful and didn’t spend a lot of time - beachy skin that is effortless in look.
