With 145,000 Instagram followers, Australian model and ‘it-girl’ Bambi Northwood-Blyth knows a thing or two about loading a successful post.
Recognising her social media allure, fragrances recently called on its new brand ambassador to take-over their Instagram account for seven days. During the week, Northwood-Blyth posted shots of herself on-the-go with Impulse fragrances.
To help take out some of the mystery on why some posts gain traction while others slide into cyberspace, Northwood-Blyth reveals her tips and tricks on all things social media...
What's your favourite thing about social media?
It's the best way for me to keep in touch with home and all my friends as I travel so much. I love being able to see where they are in the world at any point in time and what they are up to. It just makes me feel always connected.
Why should your fans engage with you on social media and what's the most memorable thing someone has shared with you on social media?
Connecting with fans is very important to me, and useful, too! It's almost as if I have my own focus group. If I put up one picture that gets 1,000 likes and one that gets 15,000 likes, it gives me a big clue as to what people like to see. I'm always amazed when I check my Twitter feed or Facebook page and see someone from half the world away reaching out to say they enjoyed my work.
What's your secret to a perfect Instagram selfie?
Some people say it's about angles, but I think it's about lighting and of course a good filter. Long limbs help too - Erin (Heatherton) is really good at it because she has such long arms!
