After facing legal threats from Beverly Hills make-up company Chroma for alleged name stealing, the Kardashian family’s make-up line Khroma is now facing legal action from a second company.
So why has another company joined in the make-up war? Because it happens to also have a similar name - Kroma - with documents filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office in January for the legal rights to the name.
Official documents by the US Patent and Trademark office rejected the Khroma trademark request back in September due to being too similar to the name Kroma, according to TMZ.
Kroma met with the Kardashians over the trademark infringement, however, they were unable to come up with an agreement so are now looking into legal options.
The original plaintiff, Chroma Make-up co-owner Michael Rey, last week released a statement saying, Rest assured, Chroma Makeup Studio, which has a long-standing reputation for high quality colour line cosmetics and services, is NOT endorsing low budget cosmetic products that will be sold in mass retail outlets. Chroma is in no way associated with the Kardashians.”
This prompted Boldface Licensing + Branding, the company in charge of the Khroma line, to respond with, We adamantly object to statements about the products quality due to the distribution choice and caution others who do so without any basis for such statements.”
