Top tips and tricks from the Base Body Babes

For those who don’t follow Base Body Babes, they’re a pair of personal trainers (and sisters) from Sydney that are inspiring women all across the globe with their #fitspo Instagram posts.

With almost 400,000 followers on the social media platform, Diana Johnson and Felicia Oreb use Instagram (and their blog) to motivate women to be healthy, fit, strong, and confident.

Here, BD narrows down some of the top health tips on their feed...

  1. “No matter where you are in the world, don't let the weather dictate your motivation to work out and be fit and healthy. Aim to work out regularly, eat healthily, and nourish, nurture and love your body every day so you can be as happy, healthy, fit, strong and confident as possible every day of your life.”
  2. “To everyone who needs a little motivation to get in the gym and train your butt off, get a training partner, commit to a great trainer, and do whatever you can to get the support you need to take your training to the next level and start progressing in the gym. PROGRESSION IS KEY.”
  3. “It's no secret that we love squatting. It's our favourite exercise to #buildabasebody and the one exercise we base all of our programs around. It's more than just a leg exercise - it works almost every muscle in the body. To build your bottom and your ultimate #basebody, always try and incorporate squats into your program.”
  4. “To truly shape your body and get you fit, strong and ultimately #buildyourbasebody, get on the gym floor and lift weights. If you [are] unsure of what to do in the gym, seek professional advice and get on a great weights-based training program.”
  5. “If you have followed us for a while, you would know that we personally do not do any traditional forms of cardio like running or jogging. We lift weights - we do it most days - and this is the way we have built our #basebody. But if we ever do add "cardio" into our workouts, it mostly comes in the form of skipping, boxing, and stair and hill sprints. We will add these extra exercises in our circuit days for something different and to burn some extra calories. Choose explosive exercises like these if you want to do extra cardio to complement your weights-based program.”
