New Zealand’s hidden natural gem

It’s a well known fact that New Zealand is a land of natural wonders. Thanks to its postcard-worthy vistas, the nation’s found itself a starring role in many an epic fantasy movie.

But the true undiscovered natural gem from the land of the long white cloud isn’t a secret snow-capped mountain or concealed beach stretch - but beauty brand RoVie.

Based on the South Island, RoVie is a vegan cosmetics company that successfully merges science with the freshest, most natural ingredients in its creations. The brand’s ethics are notably aware of the surrounding environment - RoVie is 100 per cent dedicated to using only animal cruelty-free ingredients (having been certified by three independent companies as both cruelty-free and carbon-neutral), as well as refusing to incorporate any animal testing on products. The mineral cosmetics are also free from fillers, preservatives, dyes and carmines.

The cosmetic company’s line of foundations, primers, eyeshadows and more are handmade from scratch in Kaikoura, with the brand refusing to rely on mass-produced, machine-made stock - instead focusing on a traditional approach - that is ‘made to order.’ Packing is equally as attended to, which RoVie explains simply: “We practice minimalism, which means we produce less waste” - either recyclable or reusable.

Alongside its embrace of natural resources and preservation techniques, RoVie is committed to the local economy. Manufacturing and packaging of products is done within the country, and any raw ingredients needed are sourced from a largely New Zealand list of companies.
