A new luxury beauty publication has landed named Laud magazine. The creatively driven glossy explores avant-garde hair, beauty, body art and special-effect looks, utilising the industry’s most talented artists. Laud’s founder Trish Lee-Geosits recently spoke to BD about her innovative magazine.
What inspired the launch of Laud?
The definition of ‘laud’ is to praise (a person or their achievements) highly. The inspiration for the magazine came from the thought of creating a space to celebrate not only recognised industry talent, but to create a platform to nurture and praise emerging creatives. We wanted to capture aspirational beauty that would inspire the next generation of artists to push their own creative boundaries - to be a voice that operates with authenticity in all aspects of publishing and to inspire our readers.
Print was a reflection of that integrity, rather than just following the trend of digital alone. It was important to create a medium where you can process the images and brands, without disappearing into the noise of click bait content. There is nothing as wonderful as opening a freshly bought magazine, with beautiful stunning images, printed to the highest standard on beautiful paper stock that the eye has time to process and read.
In what countries is the publication currently available?
Currently the magazine is available in 1400 newsagents across Australia, not just in the metropolitan areas but the smaller country areas as well. The magazine will also be available in the following countries: US (New York and Los Angeles), Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Canada. Hopefully by the end of March Laud will also be available in China and the UK.
What kind of content can audiences expect?
Each issue includes cutting-edge editorials, in-depth interviews, the latest beauty products in the market and exclusive visual content designed to excite and inspire. The perfect publication for beauty and hair influenced by the worlds of fashion and art. On a surface level, beauty devotees will love the publication - however anyone with a love of pop culture, photography and art will also be extremely attracted to the publication.
How does Laud stand out from other publications on the market?
The magazine features hair and make-up shot in a high fashion editorial style with top tier models and personalities from across the globe. Laud profiles many of the world's most recognisable names in the hair and beauty industry while introducing the next wave of talented artists. It is dynamic with its emphasis on celebrating the work of the artist. Each photographic spread opens with the artist’s name on top and highlighted above the creative team. A design first for an Australian beauty publication, as well as featuring detailed beauty notes with each fashion story. Laud is wholly Australian owned and printed
