Media’s top beauty picks revealed at 2016 AHFAs

It’s Australia’s largest and most successful independent hairdressing awards program, with this year’s Australian Hair Fashion Awards featuring a roll call of Australia’s finest hair, fashion and beauty exponents. Winners were announced at a ceremony held at Luna Park on Sunday, with TV presenter Scherri-Lee Biggs and renowned global hairdresser Errol Douglas the MCs for the evening.

The product award categories were judged by media representatives from titles including BEAUTYDIRECTORY, Harper’s Bazaar, POPSUGAR Beauty, beautyheaven, Rescu, Hair Romance, and Fashion Journal. The photographic categories were judged in London by UK hairdressing royalties including Anthony Mascolo, Akin Konizi, Bruce Masefield and Angelo Seminara. The business awards were judged by The Joy of Learning’s Steven Gresty, Headmasters’ Tim Binnington, MECCA’s Ava Matthews, Whitehouse Institute of Design’s Leanne Whitehouse, and Wendy Blair Consultancy’s Wendy Blair.

“Every year we see the AHFAs grow in stature. For 2016 we had an unprecedented number of entries judged by an unbelievable list of guest judges, bringing recognition on a global scale to Australian hairstylists. It’s so rewarding to see so many inspirational people come together to celebrate the best of the best in this amazing industry we are lucky enough to call work,” says AHFA creative director David Mannah.

L’Oréal Professionnel general manager Olga Zanetti adds: “We are thrilled once again to support the finest night in the Australian Hair Fashion industry. To nurture homegrown talent, giving them an international platform and allowing them to be celebrated at the highest level is crucial to the continuing success of our industry and is something in which we all believe. The evening was a huge success and we are delighted be part of that emotion.”
