Snapchat Australia is well and truly underway with its expansion plans, having just confirmed its new general manager as Kathryn Carter.
Commencing her duties for the social media platform in July, the News Corp NSW sales director previously worked at Mediacom running its prestige team, as well as at The National Magazines Company where she oversaw sales of its luxury portfolio. Carter will be joining the already announced Snapchat senior advertising team, which includes Dannie Hudson, Alicia Doumani, and Zuzana Urbanova.
The Australian arm of Snapchat was inevitable, with the platform charging ahead in the success stakes. Last week the app announced users watch 10 billion videos every day, with 60 per cent of daily active users creating daily content.
The beauty world is now a part of Snapchat’s many new developments, with Lancôme the first company to jump aboard the app’s shoppable ad feature. The beauty brand is featured within Cosmopolitan’s Discover section – a hub within Snapchat where media brands publish daily stories – with the 10-second call-to-action instructing viewers to ‘swipe up’ for more.
