Male beauty vlogging on the rise

The vlogging domain is proving a force to be reckoned with when it comes to doling out beauty advice. And while female vloggers are the traditional majority of the space, there are a rising number of male vloggers proving their worth in the arena.

Perhaps most renowned is flamboyant YouTuber Jeffree Star. His 1,738,842 subscriber audience (and growing) has helped him to launch his highly lauded Jeffree Star make-up line. The UK’s Wayne Goss (2,582,235) is another video heavyweight, who uses his experience as a professional make-up artist to share beauty tips and tricks.

Star and Goss’ biggest competitors include fellow Americans Manny Mua (1,370,246 subscribers) and PatrickStarrr (1,282,509 subscribers), who both create lavish make-up looks in online tutorials for their fans. Other notable mentions include Bretman Rock (831,306) and Jordan Liberty (430,581 subscribers).

Closer to home, blogging is still the outlet of choice for the majority of male grooming experts. Publications such as Man of Many, D’Marge,The Tailored Man, and The Versatile Gent set the standard for Australian lifestyle offerings for the boys. But now it seems the male vlogging arena is on the up with the emergence of lifestyle vlogger  Alright, Hey (67,562 subscribers), as well as make-up maestro Michael Finch of Makeupbymichaelfinch (34,802 subscribers).
