With Helen McCabe joining Nine as its new head of lifestyle last month, the former Australian Women’s Weekly (AWW) editor-in-chief has been quick to make her first appointments – announcing Kelly Baker as senior beauty editor and Damien Woolnough as consulting editor for lifestyle site 9Honey, effective immediately.
Baker previously worked with McCabe at AWW, where she was beauty and health director. Most recently, Baker was beauty editor for News Corp’s body+soul and editor at Shop Til You Drop. Woolnough joins the website from GRAZIA, where he held the position of editor-at-large. Prior to that, Woolnough was editor-in-chief at L’Officiel Australia and deputy editor at ELLE Australia.
"I was the beauty and health director of the Weekly for some five years – so I know Helen well and admire her greatly. I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather be than here at nine.com.au under her leadership," Baker tells BEAUTYDIRECTORY.
Woolnough reveals to Mumbrella: “At GRAZIA I was contributing as an editor-at-large which gave me the opportunity to vent my salty spleen on matters of style but didn’t engage my other skills as an editor. I loved working with them. I’m looking forward to a more hands on role at 9Honey and I’m really excited to be working with the dynamic Helen McCabe again.”
McCabe adds: “Damien and Kelly are leaders in their fields and are joining nine.com.au to help us develop our lifestyle sites, and in particular 9Honey. It is early days but I am pleased they have agreed to join the talented team and I am excited to be working with them again.”
