Yahoo7 Be editor Mel Cornford has announced her departure from the digital publication after four years in senior roles at the company. Cornford will now be focusing on the launch of her freelance career, her plans for which she recently shared with BD:
Are you sad to have departed Yahoo7 Be?
Absolutely. I loved my time at Yahoo7 and it was sad to say goodbye to my incredible team. But after close to four years at the company, firstly leading the lifestyle division then launching and heading up our new lifestyle and entertainment website, Be, I felt it was time to explore a new career chapter within the freelance world. The last 12 months have been especially rewarding, successfully getting Be off the ground on top of launching Polyvore in the Australian market, so I’m definitely going out on a high note.
What kind of freelance work will you be available for?
I’ll be writing across the lifestyle sphere, including beauty, fashion, fitness, health and wellness in addition to covering travel and even real life stories – basically all the areas I’m passionate about. I’m available for freelance editorial and editing work, plus branded content creation and digital strategy projects.
