The Australian bloggers turning TV stars

The makers behind Fashion Bloggers are back, this time tapping They All Hate Us bloggers Tash Sefton and Elle Ferguson to star in an eight-part series. The premise of Foxtel's Style Squad sees the duo offering a localised version of Trinny and Susannah – giving make-overs to eight style-challenged Australians.

"It's really a make-over show, [but one] that is not telling people what to change or what to wear. It's about fashion and how we can share our knowledge of how to look good on a budget – because when you look good, you feel good. The premise of the show, which is about making slight tweaks to someone's wardrobe and showing you can look amazing without having to spend a lot of money, sat well with our ethos at They All Hate Us," Ferguson tells Sydney Morning Herald.

"No matter how old you are, no matter where you live, whether it be in Sydney's eastern suburbs or out west, everyone has the same hang-ups and issues to deal with. Fashion has become so elite and it doesn't need to be, that's what the show is about."

Adding a twist to the make-over concept, Sefton and Ferguson also address what's on the inside for each of its style victims. In an interview with the Daily Telegraph, Sefton explains: “The thing that is different is when we do a make-over, it’s not just about the clothes, it’s about what’s going on inside.

“Every person that we’ve met has some sort of hiccup in their journey which has stopped them from thinking about themselves. There’s one woman that’s a foster mum and she doesn’t have money. Another girl was a fashion editor who has money but still needs help — it’s teaching you the tricks."

Style Squad airs on Foxtel's Style Network at 8.30pm on Monday nights.
