Gigi Hadid may have been one of the most followed celebrities on social media this year, but the supermodel is planning to follow in the footsteps of bestie Kendall Jenner telling the world that she's taking a much-needed break from Instagram over the holidays.
During Reebok's #PerfectNever Revolution panel last Wednesday, Hadid sat down with Lena Dunham, Zoe Kravitz and Ruby Rose to discuss fitness, health and her planned Instagram absence. She told Dunham: "I'm taking a month off, actually, during New Years. I'm not deleting my account, I'm just taking the apps off my phone. It's empowering, not just for people in the spotlight, for everyone. At the end of the day I'm choosing what I'm showing you. A lot of the world feels so entitled to other peoples' lives, which is so crazy."
She continued, "I'm going to take a break when I feel like it, and when I come back and share it with you, if you want to be supportive and still follow me, that's great. But, if you're going to be upset that I need to be human for a month, than maybe I don't want your follow anyway."
The hiatus comes after the shock disappearance of Jenner's social media accounts back in November which she says was down to the fact that she felt too dependent on the channels.
