“Gen-Z Yellow”: The new Millennial Pink

There’s a new colour coming to de-throne Millennial Pink as the shade du jour: Gen-Z Yellow.

Last week we reported that the Pantone Colour Institute released its Fashion Colour Trend Report – a list of the top colours fashion designers used at NYFW – and this year’s report highlighted that the top colour that can be expected to crop up everywhere soon is PANTONE 13-0646: Meadowlark, or simply: Yellow.

Since August, media outlets have been recognising yellow as the new colour to watch. Man Repeller gave the colour its original name (similar to how The Cut wrote an expose on Millennial Pink in 2016), saying: “Just like millennial pink, Gen-Z Yellow is not one particular shade, but rather several shades, from buttercream to melted butter and beyond.

“Just like millennial pink, it’s finding its sea legs by way of the young and the hip, which can only mean one thing: By 2018, the entire internet will probably look like the inside of a banana.”

With that in mind, BD presents the brands that have got the colour of the moment down pat, and are ready to take the top spot in your soon-to-be sunshine emoji filled Instagram feeds, flatlays, and product spots.
