Digital media brand Buro 24/7 has relocated its head office from Moscow to London and hired a new CEO. Former lifestyle director for News Corp Australia, Nick Smith, has taken on the role and will run the network from the new office based in Soho.
Smith will report to a group of shareholders and will oversee operational and commercial activity for the website that currently has a presence in 11 markets. Following his role as GQ Australia editor-in-chief, Smith worked on the expansion of Vogue Australia, GQ Australia and Buro247.com.au.
Of the business, Smith said: “It’s a company of assets with immense potential for expansion in the luxury, fashion and lifestyle categories around the world…What’s most exciting is the depth of talent across the Buro 24/7 network, be it in editorial, creative or technology that will allow us to take the company to the next level. 2018 marks an exciting new era for the group.”
The announcement comes after co-founder Miroslava Duma took to Instagram to announce she has sold her stake in Buro 24/7. According to WWD, the website saw a drop in advertising sales following offensive comments from the Russian entrepreneur.
