Revlon has named Debbie Perelman as its first female chief executive officer.
The 44-year-old was named Revlon Inc.’s COO in January, and will now be taking over from interim CEO Paul Meister.
Perelman has worked with Revlon for 20 years following her father Ronald Perelman’s acquisition of the company in 1985.
“We have some iconic brands in our portfolio and the categories they’re in today are categories that are growing — growing in the U.S. and growing in many markets around the world,” Perelman said in a statement.
“It’s a good position for us to be in to really drive the business to capture leadership positions where we should be winning.”
According to WWD Perelman’s initiatives at Revlon will include shepherding the brand into the Internet age with a focus on e-commerce and now, instilling a "culture of innovation" at the company.
"It's a good time for [the company] to be led by a woman," Perelman said. "Obviously, this is another first for the company, and I have to say I'm really honoured and humbled."
