Former Spice Girl Emma Bunton (aka Baby Spice) has made her beauty industry debut with mum and baby brand Kit & Kin.
The range was formulated last year in collaboration with Christopher Money, the brand’s director of product development who has over 15 years experience developing mother and baby beauty products.
While Bunton may have been able to create a beauty industry career not off the back of a brand collaboration, she instead decided to develop the eco-friendly products following her own experience with motherhood.
Speaking with Cosmetics Business, Bunton explained: “When I became a mother, my priorities completely changed. It’s such a huge responsibility and all you want is to provide the absolute best for your children."
“As one of my boys suffered with eczema, I really wanted to find some products with a natural ingredients base that wouldn’t irritate his skin.
“I couldn’t find any brands that I really trusted”.
The brand targets eco-friendly families who are concerned about sensitive skin, with its eco-friendly commitment extending to a charitable component: for every pack sold the brand will help fund the purchase of rainforest via the World Land Trust to help protect some of the world’s most vulnerable wildlife.
As for what her time in the Spice Girls taught her about business? Bunton admitted: “[The Spice Girls taught me about] putting your all into what that you believe in and working hard to achieve your dreams.
“With the Spice Girls, it was an incredible job which afforded me so many opportunities that I’m grateful for, and similarly with Kit & Kin I’m learning so much about this industry that is helping me become a better businesswoman every day.”
