Are you ready for this jelly(nails trend)?

As is the case with puffy pouts, liquid lipsticks and skintight body suits, anything a Kardashian-Jenner dons is almost guaranteed to be an overnight trend. This is now the case with transparent ‘jelly’ nails.

The hyper-90s nail art – where translucent, neon-coloured fake nails are glued to the wearer – were shared by Kylie Jenner to Instagram a week ago, and now there are upwards of 4,000 #jellynails posts to the photo-sharing platform.

“To create jelly nails, a technician paints the nail area opaque, then adds translucent acrylic extensions to make them look like see-through sweeties,” London-based Boom Nails’ Emma Zentner explained to The Guardian.

It also seems that the 90s resurgence is definitely coming back in a big-way, especially in nail art: The 90s are being referenced in the fashion and beauty world, that’s true,.

“And the appeal of nail art is that it’s an accessible, affordable and relatively creative way to get on board with a trend.” Zenter continued.

And if jelly nails aren’t your forte, at least they aren’t as terrifying as the teeth, furry, or hyper-pointy stiletto nails we’ve seen this year so far.
