The beauty at Milan Fashion week focused straight on femininity; with curls, lashes and rosy cheeks ruling the runways.
Below, BD has rounded up the four biggest beauty trends from the Italian affair.
Curls
Curls get the girls – or so was the case at Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, and a host of other designers who either tonged models’ hair or let their natural, curled texture fly free.
Meanwhile, Alberta Ferretti and Etro payed homage to California life and surf culture, each delivering air-dried waves that walked in stark contrast to Armani's pinned-up curls.
Lashes
Fake, extensions, or natural – it doesn't matter. At Prada, legendary MUA Pat McGrath brough back big, 60s-style lashes by placing copious coats of mascara on both the top and bottom of models' lashes. This was then further enhanced by artfully applied gold strokes to the skin underneath.
Bright eyes
As was seen in New York and Paris, bold eyeshadow is going to be one of the summer's hottest beauty trends. In Milan, it was most prominent at Giorgio Armani and Missoni.
Makeup artist Linda Cantello swept a rose-gold, iridescent shade all the way up to models’ eyebrows while at Missoni aquatic shades of green and blue were swept along the inner corners.
Graphic liner
Eyeliner took center stage at several shows — most notably at Marni, where graphic, exaggerated, Cleopatra-esque cat-eye shapes were created by Pat McGrath with black liner.
Black eyeliner was also utlised at Prada (to draw on surreal-looking lashes) and Marco De Vincenzo where models' had thin, black liner painted onto the lash line and extended out.
Replacing black with acid green and blue pigments, McGrath again created a graphic wing at Versace.
