Japanese cosmetics company, Shiseido, has appointed 21-year-old U.S open champion, Naomi Osaka, as a brand ambassador.
The partnership will see Osaka fronting Shiseido-owned suncare brand, ANESSA and U.S-based colour cosmetics brand, bareMinerals.
“We believe we share with Ms. Osaka the same challenging spirit and world-winning mindset, embracing internationalism while expressing our roots,” Shiseido said in a news release. “For this reason, Shiseido is proud to enter this global agreement, which starts with Naomi as an ambassador of ANESSA and bareMinerals. Going forward, Shiseido enthusiastically supports Ms. Osaka in taking on the world through new achievements, innovations, and beauty.”
Now ranked number five in the world, the Japanese-born tennis player has steadily climbed the ranks since turning pro in 2013. She was also the first Japanese winner of the U.S Open’s women’s title (defeating tennis legend Serena Williams) and is currently the highest ranked Japanese tennis player in history.
Earlier in the year, Chinese actress, Zhang Ziyi, was also selected as global brand ambassador for Shiseido’s Cle de Peau.
