Who: Bondi Bather
When: 12 pm, April 15. The Box, Carriageworks.
Hair: Kristina Russell and Philip Barwick for Redken
Hair style: "As a part of a collaboration with Hello Kitty, we wanted to create strong graphic colour for the hair look at the show. Hand-dyed hair pieces in cotton candy shades created by Redken Colour Rebel has been incorporated into model's own natural hair colour for a dip-dye effect. We wanted a uniform baby pink as a nice accent to the clothing as well as being quite sexy rather than little girl. There's a sleek silver hair accessory tying it all together", says Kristina Russell.
"This look is the Bondi Bather girl meets Harajuku - it's the Harajuku army look we have going on here. It's strength, it's fitness, it's confidence - our girl is not afraid to show herself off. We have used a very high ponytail which has been created in a number of sections. Using Redken's Rootful we blowdry hair, using a round brush to successively bring up the sides, back and front of the hair on the head. We then incorporate the extensions, building a hairline up out of latex and synthetic hair. You could easily rock it out at home with a really high, tight pony tail and a product like Redken Colour Rebel to create brush-on temporary colour," says Philip Barwick.
Make-up: Becca Gilmartin for VERIVERA Milano
Make-up style: "The brief was Bondi hipster crossed with a Harajuku girl. The skin is inspired by the Bondi lifestyle and is really luminous, bronzed and highly contoured. Teaming with Swarovski we have created three separate looks for the eyes that were inspired by the girls of Korea and Japan. We've come up with a look that decorates the face with swarovski crystals, pom poms and roses - it's all about that fun, flighty Harajuku feel. We've then used Lash Republic lashes to accentuate the eyes with top and bottom lashes. The eye is a taupe colour with a gloss over the top to keep it really fresh, with a cream liner in the rim. And the lips are inspired by the latest Korean trend which sees girls place colour just on the inside of the lip and blend out. At home the look can be achieved with a myriad of highlighting products to give some luminosity to the skin, with a hot pink on the lip line, blended out with the finger for a natural feel. You can also try the lip gloss on the eyes approach for a special occasion," says Becca Gilmartin.
Nails: Karon McKendrick-Taylor for
Nail look: "We really collaborated with Bec in make-up to put together the nail look for the show. As a result of all the crystals and embellishment with the hair and make-up we've used a neutral shade called Naturally as the base coat. Naturally is a flesh colour that's not too yellow or pink - it's also a complete opaque creating full coverage with just one or two coats. We've used acrylic nails in order to provide enough space to stick on accessories such as pom poms and flowers onto the ends. It's all about adding that bling to the nails," says Karon McKendrick-Taylor.
Tan: Kim Oliver for
Tan look: "We wanted to give the girls a tan that was beachy and vibrant to match the vivid shades of the outfits. We set about to achieve a full colour of tan for the models, as a final celebration of summer with winter fast approaching. We decided on the Instant Tan, which is also popular with designers thanks for its inability to damage clothing. One full layer of the olive-tone was applied to models with a velvet mitt for an even glow," says Kim Oliver.
