The designer store donating its profits

Following the trend of sustainable fashion and skincare, and the cry from consumers for brands to follow ethical practices, the recently launched Olivela is creating an innovative way for shoppers to donate to charity and participate in activism.

Olivela works by donating donating a portion of each sale – from the high-profile, internationally-branded goods – to a non-profit organisation. The luxury-focused e-commerce site stocks 200 new and “just past season” items from high-profile international brands including Givenchy, Stella McCartney and Valentino.

While luxury goods may be what Olivela are retailing, their core selling point is activism. Their engagement strategy centres on transparency, as consumers are able to access a personal dashboard that tracks exactly what the donation from their purchase constitutes in charitable terms; for example, a Dolce & Gabbana bag will provide 119 days of children’s essentials for families in the United States through Good+ Foundation.
