You don't want to get on the wrong side of Sofia Vergara. The actress is filing a multi-million dollar lawsuit against beauty company Venus Concept for using her name and likeness without permission.
Venus Concept has allegedly been cashing in on Vergara's popularity after the star shared a selfie using the Legacy skin-tightening treatment in preparation for the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards in August 2014. Since then, Venus Concept have used photos of Vergara appearing to endorse the treatment via its Facebook page, the Lavoro Laser website and the Twitter page of Beauty Fix Medspa.
The lawsuit claims: "Vergara tried the Legacy treatment but ultimately did not like it, finding that it was a waste of time and money with little in the way of any results. (Vergara) would not use it again and certainly would not endorse it nor agree to appear in an international advertisement campaign to promote it. (She) does not recommend the Venus Legacy product or services.”
Vergara accuses Venus Concept of diminishing her brand and profiting through "improper and inappropriate use of her image". Had she agreed to promote the company, she claims it would have cost them a lot of money - with Vergara earning around $US15 million for an endorsement.
Vergara's lawyers say the lawsuit could have been avoided had the company listened to the actress's requests for Venus Concept to stop the ads.
