Cosmetics giant Rimmel are the latest beauty brand to jump on the augmented reality bandwagon; however, the Coty-owned beauty company are taking AR to a whole new level.
Partnering with Facebook — the place 55 per cent of Rimmel consumers apparently chose as their first stop for beauty inspo — Rimmel have launched a live, virtual visual-effects cosmetics concept that is amplified with voice activation.
The way the concept will work is by using Facebook’s in-app camera to allow users to try on several Rimmel makeup looks, and voice-commands will further allow users to try multiple looks at once, and share their looks with other Facebook users.
Rimmel worked with UK-based agency Holition to develop the Facebook camera effects, which are available in the US, UK and Middle East on iOS and Android.
