Who: We Are Kindred
When: 10:00am, May 17, Carriageworks

Hair: Richard Kavanagh for Redken
Hair look:
“The hair is really inspired by the idea of a girl who’s in the Caribbean on a hot balmy night, dancing her heart out. She’s on her own, empowered by her own self and beauty. Half way through dancing she’s feeling hot so she twists her hair back and pins it at the nape of her neck so she can carry on dancing. We’ve prepped the hair with a combination of products depending on the individual’s hair. We’ve used different Redken mousses like Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse, Volume Guts 10 and Rootful 06 and then we’ve blow dried, tonged the hair with a big curling wand, and then very casually twisted two pieces of hair low at the nape so it’s half up, half down, and pinned it into place. We’re finishing with a little argan oil - Redken Soft Argan-6 Oil - on the hairline so it looks a bit more refined but still like she’s been dancing all night.”

Makeup: Noni Smith for M.A.C
Makeup look:
“The look is really beautiful, glossy, glowy and luminous. We’re using lipstick on the eye, with lip gloss over the top. While this might not be entirely comfortable to wear, it looks amazing! On the skin we’ve used M.A.C Lightful Softening Lotion which gets rid of any dryness and makes sure there’s a beautiful even surface for the makeup. We’ve also used M.A.C Prep + Prime Essential Oil and M.A.C Face and Body Foundation which has a lovely sheeny-glow to it. So that’s three layers of luminosity. For the eyes we chose three colours that compliment the fabrics in the collection. There’s a peachy-pink, a golden bronze and a lilac - all of them are very iridescent - and with the lipstick, this creates a very pearlescent look. Brows are really brushed up with M.A.C Brow Set, we love this and can’t get enough of it, then we’ve lightly filled in the gaps. We’ve curled the lashes, used mascara on just the top lashes, and to give a little bit of intensity to the eye area, we’ve run a dark, dark brown pencil along the water line and then rubbed it off with a cotton tip. This means the pencil sticks on the lashes and gives a bit of extra definition. The lip is matte which is a contrast to the eye and we’ve used a white pencil on the cupid's bow to make it pop. The look is finished with M.A.C Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle on the high planes of the face, its got a bit of apricot in it to tie everything together.”
