Stars turn out for FiFi Awards

Halle Berry, Mary J. Blige and Fergie were among the winners at the Fragrance Foundation’s 39th Annual Awards in New York.

A number of technical issues punctuated the event, including failing lights, random musical interruptions, microphone cut-outs and an envelope missing the winner’s name. When Kate Walsh took to the stage to present an award, the generator blew out, leaving the event in the dark.

Despite the glitches, the night was an overall success with a number of big names taking out awards. Mary J. Blige said she felt truly blessed” when she picked up two awards for her fragrance, My Life by Mary J. Blige. Meanwhile, actor Halle Berry picked up the newly renamed Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year trophy.

Fergie lived up to her fragrance’s namesake after her husband Josh Duhamel surprised her onstage with her award, having told her he was going away on a golf trip. After hugging Duhamel, the singer turned to her agent and her husband and said jokingly, You f—ckers! Sorry, I’m outspoken.” Fergie took out the award for New Fragrance Celebrity of the Year for her debut fragrance, Outspoken.
