NIVEA encourages us to ‘Take Care Out There’

'Take Care Out There' with NIVEA Sun

It’s no secret Australians are sun worshippers, notorious for our dedication to topping up our tans. has embraced this stereotype for its latest international campaign, which explores the damaging effects of UV rays on skin.

The campaign, called ‘Take Care Out There’, is a collaboration between NIVEA Sun and American artist Thomas Leveritt. The product of the partnership is a memorable video that uses an ultraviolet camera on Aussie locals to demonstrate how sunscreen protects from UV rays, preventing sunburn and permanent skin damage.

Vice president of NIVEA Sylvia Latimer explained the video stemmed from the brand’s realisation that not enough members of the public understand how truly dangerous UV light can be to the skin. She told Cosmetics Daily: “Our studies have shown that many consumers don’t use sunscreen because they have no idea about the effects UV light has on our skin and how sunscreen products work.”

The video was filmed on Bondi Beach and will appear both online and on TV as a part of the ‘Take Care Out There’ campaign.
