Drew Barrymore unveils beauty brand

Drew Barrymore has unveiled her very own colour cosmetics line, Flower, which will be stocked in Wal-Mart stores from January.

As previously reported, Barrymore has been working on her own venture in the lead-up to the end of her contract in January.  The actress has been a face and co-creative director of COVERGIRL since 2007.

I think, if you really care about things, then you just naturally get involved. I don’t want to sit there and hope it works out. I wanted to be in the middle, in the mix, making sure it works out,” Barrymore is quoted as saying on WWD. It is almost an uncontrollable desire to be one of the people who is creating. Maybe it is just a type of personality. I can’t sleep at night. I care.”

The new collection is a co-ownership with design and manufacturing firm Maesa Group. Scott Oshry, president, partner and board member at Maesa describes Flower as true luxury at mass”.

Industry sources predict Flower will generate $US50 million in first-year retail sales.
