Diptyque announces Australian first

Diptyque is excited to announce an Australian first for the brand – its boutique in Chadstone, Melbourne is now open.

Marking the brand's first boutique on the continent, the 70m2 space captures the originality and poetry that has characterised Diptyque since its inception.

On entering the boutique, past the iconic green facade crowned by the Diptyque logo and a mosaic made to measure by the Decomosa studio, visitors discover a world unto itself.

The furniture and objects are carefully selected for their allusive character and ability to tell a panoply of stories; the parquet flooring in locally sourced wood, monumental mural, and colourful furniture conjure a world of sophistication and eclecticism, beckoning visitors into the home of a collector or a cabinet of curiosities.

Combining the charming interiors for which Paris is renowned with local architectural traditions, the boutique blends mouldings typical of Haussmann apartments and beach house-style panelling found along the Australian coast.

At the centre of the main room, a pair of blue lacquered tables celebrate the hues of sky and ocean and enter into a dialogue, on the left, with a monumental fresco composed of blues and greys by Australian artist Katrina O’Brien, who drew inspiration from the Diptyque archives.

The artwork washes over the wall, from the vintage chair at the entrance to the fragrance counter, before spilling into the skincare space with its large, distinctive sink in local stone and two upper niches showcasing the Art of Body Care collection.

On the opposite wall, a large oak bookcase, which sets the scene for the home collection frames both the herbarium and a selection of candles.

Further on, an oak console and a series of shelves showcase Les Mondes de Diptyque, a collection of candles that subtly evoke the captivating spirit of hidden havens specially selected for their blend of nature and culture.

Tucked away at the rear of the boutique, a standalone space resembling a beach house, its walls and ceiling entirely adorned with greywashed wooden panels, is dedicated to the art of gifting, bringing the journey to a close.

Visitors are invited to experience and discover the space devoted to each collection and its rituals, from the home collection of scented candles with floral, woody, spicy and herbaceous notes, to fragrances and the skincare collection.

You can find the boutique at Shop G380 /1341 Dandenong Rd, Chadstone Shopping Centre, VIC 3148.
