While Korean skincare trends have been all the rage over the last few years (think sheet masks, cushion compacts, essences and more), it seems the popular Korean ten-step system has been exchanged for something called skip-care.
Skip-care, which was first adopted by Korean millennials looking to save time, is all about using fewer products but receiving the same results as you normally would with a full skincare routine. Essentially, it covers the bases of moisturising, brightening, balancing and anti-ageing in one single step.
“Skip-care is a skincare method that allows you to identify the essential ingredients for your skin and avoid the use of unnecessary products for a simpler, yet proper, skincare routine,” Korean brand, AmorePacific told Byrdie.
Millennials, however, aren’t the only ones looking for a more streamlined routine. According to Byrdie, the search term “cosmetics restriction diet” (loosely translated from Korean) has increased over the last few years, while “seven-step method” has gone down.
Because the minimisation concept is trending more than ever, it appears skincare savvy millennials are inspiring a whole new generation of innovative, time-saving products – with more trends soon expected to take the world by storm.
