With more than 20 years’ experience in media, Yahoo7 is excited to announce its new head of editorial for Australia and New Zealand is former UK Mail Online assistant editor Simon Wheeler.
Wheeler is a well-established journalist in the UK, having held both writing and editing roles throughout his career. Along with positions at Mail Online, he has also worked for newspapers The Sun and The Daily Star.
Wheeler will shortly arrive in Sydney, where he will begin managing the editorial components of Yahoo7’s office. This will include traversing the subjects of news, lifestyle, entertainment, travel, finance and sport in the Southern Hemisphere office.
Yahoo7 director of product and audience Caroline Casey believes the addition of Wheeler to the team will cement the company’s position in the news arena. “Providing engaging, entertaining and informative content for our audience is at the core of our business model. We constantly strive to enhance editorial offerings across all our media properties with the goal of being number one in news,” she says.
“Simon coming on board will be key to achieving this and I look forward to working with him as we continue to grow Yahoo7 and Yahoo New Zealand as the go-to destination for news, lifestyle, entertainment, sport and finance.”
